Creative Block : Listen to Shane Curry talk about what it takes to time sheets for animation! It’s pretty rare to hear what that’s like, and Shane gave us a little demo in the video. This is a must watch, and we get pretty vulnerable in there so prep your tissue box. I hope you'll let us know what you think in the YouTube comments :D
Free Storyboard Pro scripts: If you’re animation director, a storyboard artist or a revisionist, these scripts by director Corey Barnes are all an absolute MUST HAVE. Try them out for yourself, they’ll save you a million years!
Madison & Skylar: I've been working on a short with Cartoon Network since early January! It’s been a ton of fun, and the team working on the short with me is no short of ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I can’t wait to share it with you all when it’s done. Production should wrap at the end of December, but I’m hoping the short will premiere on YouTube or somewhere. I’ll keep y'all in the loop! Spoiler alert: it’s based off these two characters I made a comic about back in 2018 :)
OCTOBER EVENTS: I’ll be tabling at two events (Comics & cocktails and Games realms) in LA this october! If you’re in the area, I hope you’ll come by and say hi, I’ll have some exclusive stickers there. I’m also gonna panel at a comics panel at Lightbox expo on Saturday 28th at 4.30 to 5.30pm! Other guests are Deborah Lee, Victoria Ying, Molly Knox Ostertag, Mario Alberti, Jazzlyn Stone (moderator), Jen Bartel!
DRAWING ON THE GO: Out of town for a month and a half, I needed a cheap PC to draw comics, storyboards and edit reels. Since I already have a portable cintiq, I did not want to invest in a laptop that would be over 600+ $ so I decided to get this Dell mini PC for ~300$. It works great for my needs, is lightweight and fits in a suitcase easy-peasy. It doesn’t come with a graphics card, so no gaming time on it, but hey, this is for work only!!!
Favorite instagram animator: Mattis Dovier. His stuff is so surreal and nostalgique, Check out their page!!!
HUMOR ME: I’ve been so lucky to get a shout out from Marvin, author of Humor Me! This is such a sweet and wonderful romance webcomic, I’d very much encourage you to read it on Webtoons, Tapas and give Marvin a follow on their social media!
1$ MINI COMIC: I've been selling quite a lot of these mini comics at conventions! Based off a comic I wrote and drew in 2011, you can either download free on my gumroad or buy it on my shop! It’s just one buck, cheaper than a coffee!
TIKTOK LIVE: Listen, I know, I know. Tiktok is yet another social media ap we gotta go on and livestream on? When will this insane machine of content making ever stop??? Well Tiktok just put out this free and easy to use streaming platform, so you can stream to your phone from the comfort of your computer. I tried it out yesterday and it was really easy to set up and get going! I had a lot of fun, so I’ll ink my Rodney R.Rodney pages on there once every two days. Hope to see you in chat ;)
MUSIC: I love to end this newsletter with my favorite music write/draw to! This producer is super famous, but I love the deep WOMPs and psychedelics riffs, it gets me pumped and excited to work. Love me some Griz!!!!
